‘Sweet victory’ – Kennedy Boboye reacts to Sunshine Stars win against his old club

Kennedy Boboye joined Sunshine Stars with a mandate to preserve their Nigeria Premier Football League status amidst a keen relegation battle.

The veteran gaffer moved one step closer to achieving this mandate following a hard-fought win over one of his old clubs.

A two-time Premier League title winner, Boboye described Sunshine Star’s victory over NPFL title chasing Remo Stars FC as a ‘sweet victory.

After a narrow home victory, Sunshine Stars coach Kennedy Boboye acknowledged the difficulty of their match against his old club Remo Stars.

The Akure Gunners scored first, but the Sky Blue Boys equalized through Ahmed Akinyele’s penalty, making the win hard-fought.

Boboye praised his players and quickly shifted focus to their upcoming matches. “It’s a sweet and well-deserved victory. I’m glad we won, but we still have two more matches to play. I must also give kudos to the visitors; they gave us a good fight,” he said.

Sunshine Stars will face Doma United in a rescheduled NPFL game on Wednesday as they continue their fight against relegation.

A win or draw against Doma United in Gombe will be enough to secure NPFL survival for the Stars with a game to spare.
