Taiwo Awoniyi: Champions League Spot Would Motivate Nottingham Forest
Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi has said that qualifying for the UEFA Champions League would give the team a huge boost.
Forest, managed by Nuno Espirito Santo, are one of four Premier League clubs still in the race for a Champions League spot next season.
With three games left, Forest are currently sixth in the table. They also reached the semi-finals of the Emirates FA Cup but were knocked out by Manchester City.
Awoniyi believes finishing in the top five would make the season a success for the team.
“Right now, the target is the Champions League,” he told Humble Boots. “We are out of the FA Cup after a long run. I even broke my nose during the campaign and we lost 2-0 to Manchester City in the semi-final.
“But to show how hard we’ve worked this season, finishing in a Champions League spot would be a big motivation for all of us.”
Nottingham Forest will play already relegated Southampton at the City Ground on Sunday.
