Taiwo Awoniyi has opened his goal scoring account for his new club after scoring the winner in Royal Excel Mouscron 2-1 home win against Oostende in a Belgian league game on Sunday.
The Liverpool loanee who recently ended his loan at Gent for a familiar club, reminded the Stade Le Canonnier faithfuls of his potential by scoring the winner in his first game for ‘Les Hurlus’ in his second spell at the club.
It was Oostendewho broke the deadlock through Tom De Sutter in the 9th minute of the game. But the host drew level just 4 minites after going down through Manuel Benson.
Soon it was Taiwo Awoniyi’s turn. Just two minutes after he replaced Frank Boya, Awoniyi escaped his marker before squeezing the ball past the goalie from a difficult angle with his right foot.
The goal is Taiwo Awoniyi first league goal this season having played in 15 league games for Gent in the first half of the season without a goal before joining Muscoron in January.
During his first spell with Muscoron Taiwo Awoniyi scored nine goals in 29 league games he played in.
