Team Akwa Ibom’s Princewill Itoro Targets Gold Medal at 2nd Niger Delta Games

Princewill Itoro Effong, a 60 kg male boxer from Akwa Ibom State, has said that only a gold medal will satisfy him at the ongoing 2nd Niger Delta Games.

He made the statement after defeating his Ondo State opponent in their preliminary bout on Saturday at the 2nd Niger Delta Games.

Princewill controlled the fight across all three rounds, putting his taller and heavier opponent under pressure throughout the contest. The Akwa Ibom boxer was declared the winner by unanimous decision of the judges.

Speaking after the bout at the 2nd Niger Delta Games, Princewill said he was confident of victory from the start.

“I knew I was going to beat him, and I kept the pressure on him from the start of the fight to the final round,” he said.

Princewill, who is known for his powerful punches and good footwork, said he is focused on going far in the competition.

“I’m excited about winning the fight. It’s just the beginning, but I’m focused on getting as far as the final, possibly winning the gold medal,” he added.

The boxer also warned other competitors in his weight category at the 2nd Niger Delta Games to be ready for a tough challenge.

“I’m well prepared to face any opponent in my weight category. They should beware of meeting me in the ring because none of them can stop my rising boxing profile,” he said.
