Team Delta Leads National Sports Festival with 103 Medals After Day Seven
Team Delta has taken the lead in the 22nd National Sports Festival (NSF), also known as the ‘Gateway Games’, after Day Seven, with an impressive haul of 103 medals.
The medals include 44 gold, 19 silver, and 40 bronze.
According to the official medals table released by the organisers and reported by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Bayelsa remains in second place with 33 gold, 23 silver, and 23 bronze medals – a total of 79.
Rivers is still in third place with 26 gold, 21 silver, and 26 bronze medals.
Hosts Team Ogun are in fourth with 25 gold, 16 silver, and 24 bronze, while Oyo stay in fifth place, having won 14 gold, 17 silver, and 21 bronze medals.
So far, 709 medals have been won by athletes at the festival.
Taraba is the latest state to join the medals table after winning a silver medal.
The National Sports Festival is a multi-sport event held every two years and organised by the Federal Government. It brings together athletes from Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to compete in different sports. The event promotes unity, sportsmanship, and excellence across the country.
