Terem Moffi ends remarkable season with goal as Nice down Lyon

Nigerian striker Terem Moffi ended the Ligue 1 season with a goal as OGC Nice secured a 3-1 win over Olympique Lyonnais on the final day of the season.

With European places beyond the reach of both teams, it was a fixture with little significance when Nice and Lyon took to the pitch for the final time in the 2022-23 season.

It only took five minutes for Nice to take the lead in fortuitous circumstances when Jerome Boateng passed the ball into his own goal in comical fashion.

Les Aiglons doubled their advantage in the 28th minute through forward Gaetan Laborde before Moffi added his name to the scoresheet only five minutes later. The 23-year-old was on hand to finish off a delicious cross from Hicham Boudaoui to score his 18th league goal in 34 appearances and 21st in all competitions.

Lyon pulled one back in the 41st minute when Rayan Cherki set up Brazilian forward Jeffinho, but neither side managed another goal for the rest of the game.

Terem Moffi ended the 2022-23 season as one of the best marksmen in France and will now turn his attentions to the national team where he is expected to be called up for the fixtures against Sierra Leone and Sao Tome & Principe this month.
