Chelsea have confirmed that Thiago Silva has signed a new contract until 2024.
The 38-year-old contract was due to run out in the summer but he has now extended his stay at Stamford Bridge.
The Brazilian defender has been a shining light for Chelsea this season in a stuttering season for the club.
“I am honestly so happy to continue my career with the Blues,”.
Silva joined Chelsea on a one-year deal after leaving Paris Saint-Germain in 2020.
“When I signed my first contract here, it was to just do one year. Now it is already the fourth. I could not have imagined that, but really it is a very special moment for me to sign and stay at Chelsea.”
Chelsea owners Todd Boehly and Eghbali hailed the Brazilian for his contributions to the club.
“We’re thrilled he has extended his contract with us and we look forward to more success with him ahead.”
Silva will hope to celebrate his contract renewal with a win against West Ham in an early kick off on Saturday.
