Timberwolves shock LA

Edwards' 38 points steal game 1

The Minnesota Timberwolves stunned the Los Angeles Lakers with a 118-111 victory in Game 1 of their playoff series on Saturday night at Crypto.com Arena. Anthony Edwards delivered a spectacular performance, leading all scorers with a dominant 38 points.

The young Timberwolves came out with high energy, taking an early lead and withstanding every Lakers comeback attempt. Edwards’ aggressive drives and late-game shots proved too much for the home team.

LeBron James led the Lakers with an effort of 29 points, while Anthony Davis contributed 24. However, the Lakers struggled with consistent scoring beyond their stars and committed key turnovers that hampered their momentum. Despite a third-quarter push that saw them briefly regain the lead, they couldn’t contain the Timberwolves’ determined play.

“We came here to get a win,” Edwards said confidently after the game. Lakers star LeBron James acknowledged the Timberwolves’ performance, stating, “Edwards had a great night.”

This unexpected Game 1 victory gives the Timberwolves a significant advantage as the series progresses. The Lakers will need to make quick adjustments before Game 2 on their home court.
