Tolu Arokodare scores for KRC Genk

Super Eagles-eligible forward, Tolu Arokodare, made a significant impact for KRC Genk in their recent Jupiler Pro League Championship Group clash against Union Saint-Gilloise.

In the match, Nigeria’s Tolu Arokodare scored the only goal to secure all three points for his team.

At the Cegeka Arena, Arokodare’s first-half strike proved to be the decisive moment of the game. Assisted by Patrik Hrosovsky, the former FC Koln forward capitalized on a well-executed pass inside the box, slotting the ball past Luxembourg goalkeeper Anthony Moris into the bottom right corner.

Arokodare’s goal adds to his impressive tally for the season, with 12 goals and 3 assists in 42 games for Genk. Despite facing criticism and racism earlier in his Genk career due to a slow start, his recent performances, including the crucial goal against Union Saint-Gilloise, are raising questions about whether he is meeting expectations in Belgium.

Signed after the departure of Paul Onuachu in the January 2023 transfer window, Arokodare has gradually adapted to life at Genk. His goal-scoring contribution in important matches, such as the recent clash, underscores his growing influence on the team.

As Arokodare continues to find his rhythm and deliver crucial goals for Genk, he is proving to be a valuable asset in their quest for success in the Jupiler Pro League.
