Tottenham Hotspur are now interested in signing Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze. The club may offer around £68 million to bring him to north London.
Per GOAL, Spurs had been looking at Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo, who used to play under new Tottenham boss Thomas Frank. But Manchester United have increased their bid for Mbeumo, making it harder for Spurs to sign him. Now, Eze is their top target.
Eze had a fantastic end to last season. The 26-year-old scored nine goals in his last 13 games. That included two goals in a 2-0 win over Spurs, and the winner in the FA Cup final.
Tottenham see Eze as a big signing to start the Thomas Frank era. But if they want him, they’ll need to pay his full release clause – which is said to be £68 million.
Unless a move happens soon, Eze will return to Crystal Palace for pre-season. The team has friendly matches lined up, including games against Bromley and Crawley. They’ll also face Liverpool in the Community Shield in August.
