Tyson Fury’s father headbutts team Oleksandr Usyk staff

In the lead-up to the highly anticipated heavyweight clash between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk, tensions boiled over as John Fury, Tyson’s father, found himself in the midst of a confrontation, which left him bloodied.

Originally scheduled for February but rescheduled to May 2024, due to a cut sustained by Tyson Fury during sparring, the upcoming bout in Saudi Arabia will see Fury and Usyk vying for all four heavyweight titles.

Hostilities escalated a day after Usyk’s arrival in Riyadh when a scuffle erupted between one of Usyk’s team members and John Fury during a media day for battle week.

Witnesses heard heated exchanges between the two camps, with chants of “Fury” and “Usyk” echoing in the background.

Video footage captured a member of Team Usyk confronting John, leading to a physical altercation where John reportedly headbutted one of Usyk’s crew members, resulting in blood flowing down his forehead.

The stakes couldn’t be higher for Saturday’s bout, with the victor set to become the first man since Lennox Lewis in 1999 to hold all four heavyweight belts.

Reports suggest Fury stands to earn a substantial $150 million (£116 million) from the fight, although rumors circulate about a contractual obligation for him to donate £1 million of his earnings to Ukraine amidst its conflict with Russia.

As tensions mount and anticipation reaches fever pitch, the clash between Fury and Usyk promises to be a historic moment in boxing history.
