U-20 AFCON: Egypt Coach not scared of Nigeria challenge

Egypt U-20 Head Coach Mahmoud Gaber has stressed his team is not scared of the challenge posed by next opponents Nigeria and other teams at the ongoing Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.

The Young Pharaohs were held to a 0-0 draw in the opening game by Mozambique before Nigeria’s Flying Eagles fell 0-1 to Senegal hours later.

Gaber will lead the Young Pharaohs against Nigeria in their second group A game at the Cairo International Stadium on February 22.

Both teams know how important the remaining two group games are to their hopes of reaching the knock-out round, a task Gaber is optimistic his boys will face with calm.

” We are not afraid of facing any team” he told the Post match interview crew.

When asked about reasons for their inability to get maximum points vs Mozambique in front of their supporters, Mahmoud Gaber said;

” We were not calm when we had our chances. We didn’t focus with our chances and that’s why we failed to win. ”

The second game will be crucial, Seven team Champions Nigeria, will enter the game vs Egypt knowing defeat may end their hopes of reaching the knock-out round.

Senegal will take on Mozambique in the other Group A game, the Senegalese lads knowing victory will seal progression to the knock-out round.
