U17 AFCON: Golden Eaglets coach Manu Garba cries for help over MRI test

Coach Manu Garba has raised alarm that the continued delay in the MRI age test has held back the Golden Eaglets from submitting a provisional squad of 25 players for the U17 AFCON in Tanzania.

The championship is only about three weeks from kick-off but the mandatory age test has not been conducted to determine the players eligible for the tournament.

“The MRI test is really holding back the team,” lamented Manu.

“We need to submit a provisional squad of 25 players to CAF two weeks to the tournament and we are yet to do so because we have not done the MRI.”

Manu also hinted that there could be a major overhaul of the squad caused by the latest age test.

“Several of the players who featured at the zonal qualifiers in Niger are in grade 5 (and so may drop out),” he disclosed.

“And also the new players have been doing very well and we could see changes in midfield and attack as a result.”

The Eaglets are drawn in Group A along with hosts Tanzania, Angola and Uganda.
