Former Flying Eagles creative midfielder, Uche Onwuasonya has distanced himself from a report linking him to have signed a deal with Wikki Tourist from Nigeria Professional Football League(NPFL) champions Plateau United.
Onwuasonya who had an impressive season with the Maikaba led team scoring seven NPFL goals insisted that there was never a time he considered leaving the Jos based club.
“This kind of reports always come up during the transfer window but regarding mine there is no iota of truth in it, that I have put pen to a deal with Wikki Tourist.
“I want to state clearly here that Plateau United is still the right club for me, even though I received offers from close to seven other NPFL teams and three from outside the shores of Nigeria.
“The report makes no sense, why would I leave the NPFL champions and Champions League side for any other team. The offers that came were just a mere distraction as I want to remain with Plateau United to improve on my game and to help the club win the Champions League and feature in the FIFA World Club Cup.
“Coach Maikaba is one fantastic coach I have worked with as he has helped remodeled my game, build my confidence level and turned me to a better player as I now score goals with ease. I could have scored more goals if the novel virus pandemic, COVID-19 had not ended the season worldwide.
“Credit too must be given to the Plateau United management for their administrative skills and work ethics as they put everything right for the team to achieving success. There is a cordial relationships between the non-playing staff and squad.
“Again, Jos is a city I love as I have made good friends on and off the field, so why would just feel like leaving. The fans too have fantastic and accommodating, as they back the team at matches.
‘My plan this season is to continue from where I stopped, rediscover my goal scoring boots and help Plateau United win big this season.”
