A fierce shot from distance from Cancelo was parried by Copenhagen goalkeeper Kamil Grabara and Haaland had the simplest of tasks to tap home the rebound in the 32nd minute. He has 19 goals in all competitions for Manchester City this season.
Manchester City soon added to their advantage as Davit Khocholava turned a shot from Sergi Gomez into his own net in the 39th minute to give the Citizens a commanding lead going into the break.
The lead became four in the 55th minute as Riyad Mahrez converted a penalty on his 200th appearance for Manchester City before Julian Alvarez rounded off the scoring in the 76th minute to complete a completely dominant 5-0 for Manchester City.
Nigerian winger Paul Mukairu made an appearance off the bench for FC Copenhagen as he replaced Victor Claesson in the 66th minute of the encounter.
