Usman KO’s Masvidal to retain Welterweight title
Nigerian Nightmare now on 14-fight winning streak in UFC
The Nigerian Nightmare, Kamaru Usman stopped Jorge Masvidal with a second round knockout in their title rematch at UFC 261 on Sunday morning in Florida.
Masvidal had claimed Kamaru was lucky to defeat him when the pair first faced at UFC 251. Much of the pre-fight talk was about how he would overcome Kamaru. The first round went to Kamaru, with the Nigerian handing out a punishment to his opponent before the bell went for the the end of the first round. The second round started in similar fashion before a brutal right hand from Kamaru fell Masvidal down, and Kamaru followed up with a barrage of punches while Masvidal was down before the referee stopped the fight.
Kamaru Usman has now won his last 14 fights in the UFC and his last 18 in all combat Sports. He is undefeated in 8 years and is still the UFC welterweight champion of the world.
