Uzoho arrives Super Eagles AFCON camp, Alhassan, Umar too

Super Eagles first-choice goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho has arrived the teams camp alongside Alhassan Yusuf and Sadiq Umar to take the number of players in camp to 22.

Uzoho’s arrival was delayed to allow him play in the Cyprus league game between his club Omonia Nicosia Vs Aris Limassol, one they won 3-1 to keep chase for the league title.

With Uzoho’s arrival, the battle for who will man the Super Eagles post at the Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Cote d’Ivoire will begin with Enyimba’s Olorunleke Ojo and Chippa United’s Stanley Nwabili already in camp.

Uzoho faces keen battle for his spot in the starting XI, with intense pressure on head coach Jose Peseiro to drop him for a new face with Nwabili primed for the role.

For Super Eagles new-boy, Alhassan Yusuf, he joins the team as replacement for Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi who has been ruled out with Injury.

Yusuf’s invitation is in recognition of his sterling performances for Belgian champions Royal Antwerp.

Sadiq Umar who was in Nigeria for the festive season completes the list of 22 Eagles in camp at the time of this post.
