Veron Mosengo-Omba Set to Become New FECOFA President

Former Confederation of African Football Secretary General, Veron Mosengo-Omba, is expected to become the new president of the DR Congo Football Federation after other candidates reportedly pulled out of the election race.

Reports from the Democratic Republic of the Congo said the remaining contestants withdrew from the FECOFA presidential election, leaving Mosengo-Omba as the only candidate before the polls.

Sources linked to the election process also claimed that both government officials and FIFA wanted a peaceful and smooth process that would allow the former CAF official to emerge without opposition.

Mosengo-Omba previously worked as Secretary General of CAF and is regarded as one of Africa’s top football administrators.

Many football observers believe his expected appointment could help improve football administration in DR Congo after several years of internal problems within the federation.
