Victor Osimhen and Teen Cousin Mayowa Samuel Could Both Leave Galatasaray This Summer
Victor Osimhen may not be the only member of his family leaving Galatasaray soon. His 17-year-old cousin, Adegoke Mayowa Samuel, who joined the club’s U17 team earlier this year, could also be on the move.
Osimhen, on loan from Napoli, has been in superb form, scoring 33 goals and providing eight assists this season. His performances have helped Galatasaray chase a league and cup double, and top European clubs such as Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal, and Liverpool are showing strong interest. However, his high wage demands could delay a move to the Premier League.
Clubs in Saudi Arabia are also said to be keen on signing him and are willing to meet his salary, but it’s not yet clear if the 25-year-old striker wants to leave Europe.
Meanwhile, Mayowa Samuel, whom Osimhen personally recommended to Galatasaray in January, is beginning to make a name for himself. The teenage striker has impressed in the youth setup, catching the attention of several Turkish clubs.
Turkish journalist Hakan Gündoğar said on Arma Sports’ YouTube channel that “Osimhen’s cousin, who plays in the U17 team, is leaving. Mayowa Samuel plays as a centre forward. All Anatolian clubs are interested. Scouts have been visiting Galatasaray every day. At the club, they call him ‘Little Osimhen’.”
It’s a rapid rise for the young Nigerian, who only moved to Turkey five months ago. Now, he could be set for another big step in his career, possibly at a different club.
If both players leave this summer, Galatasaray could lose two members of the same footballing family in one transfer window.
