Victor Osimhen breaks silence on Odion Ighalo Super Eagles return
Victor Osimhen has finally spoken on the recall of Odion Ighalo to the Super Eagles.
The Napoli forward spoke to the NFF media on Wednesday on the issue which has divided opinions amongst Nigerian football fans.
Gernot Rohr rocked the country when he recalled the retired Super Eagles striker for Saturday’s FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 African qualifying encounter against the Lone Star of Liberia.
And for their final game of the campaign, against the Wild Beasts of Central African Republic, also on Tuesday next week.
Retired Super Eagles stars and a lot of Nigerian fans were against Rohr’s decision to recall Odion Ighalo.
But a few such as Daniel Amokachi backed the decision and Victor Osimhen has contributed on the topic.
“Good for the team,” said Osimhen.
“The coach and Federation knows what is good for the team.
“We welcome him with open arms and we are looking forward to having him in camp.
“Ighalo is a big brother to me, and I will learn from him.
‘Our common goal is to qualify for the World Cup and do well at the AFCON.”
