Victor Osimhen Could Stay at Galatasaray Beyond Summer, Says Club Vice President

Galatasaray’s Vice President, Abdullah Kavukcu, has suggested that Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen might remain at the Turkish club after this season.

Osimhen, who joined Galatasaray on loan from Napoli in September, surprised many with his move, as fans expected him to join a bigger European club for a high fee. However, the Nigerian has had a fantastic season in Turkey, scoring 28 goals and providing five assists in 32 matches for the club, who are close to winning the Turkish Super Lig.

Speaking to the media, Kavukcu revealed that while top clubs are chasing Osimhen, staying at Galatasaray is still a possibility.

“Osimhen will reveal his decision in April. At the moment, five of the biggest clubs in the world are interested in him,” said Kavukcu. “When he came here, it was like a dream. In January, people talked about him leaving, but he stayed. He really loves Galatasaray.

“Right now, all our rivals want him. Even though we are focused on winning the league, we haven’t spoken directly with him about his future. But staying here isn’t impossible. Galatasaray is a top club—if it wasn’t, Victor wouldn’t have come.”

Osimhen, 26, has not said much about his future, but he expressed his happiness with life at Galatasaray.

“Right now, I don’t know what will happen,” he said. “A few months ago, nobody believed I would come to Galatasaray. Some thought I would leave in January, but I stayed.

“I live for the moment. I love the fans, the club, the president, the staff—everyone. Being here is a real privilege, and I’m enjoying every minute.”

Osimhen, who previously played for Lille and VfL Wolfsburg, has been linked with a move to the Premier League, with Manchester United showing strong interest. However, his high wage demands—around £9.4 million per year after tax—may be too much for the club, who are looking to cut their wage bill. United are now considering Liam Delap as a cheaper option.

Meanwhile, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Nottingham Forest, and Paris Saint-Germain are still said to be interested in signing the 2023 CAF Player of the Year.
