Victor Osimhen returns as a maskman, says only one thing can keep him from AFCON 2022

Victor Osimhen has returned to training after missing out for weeks due to the facial injury he had in Napoli 3-2 loss to Inter on November 21st.

The Nigerian striker was seen running with a protective wear adding him to the long list of footballers who have had to depend on the mask.

His injury has dealt a small dent on his Scudetto fighting side who have gone from 1st to 2nd with 4 points behind new leaders Inter Milan.

Nigerians feared he would be ruled out of the 2022 AFCON due to the incident but Victor Osimhen has confirmed his readiness for the tournament.

Osimhen via his social media platform declared himself ready to be part of the tournament – he said the only thing that can stop him from participating in the tournament is if he wasn’t invited.

“I will be available for AFCON unless I’m not among the players picked to represent Nigeria.”

With injury to Paul Onuachu and Kelechi Iheanacho’s lack of playing time, Victor Osimhen will be relied upon heavily and could be assisted by Taiwo Awoniyi, Emmanuel Dennis and co.

Nigeria start the AFCON with a clash against Egypt on 11th of January.
