Manchester City trashed Liverpool 4-0 at the Etihad Stadium to condemn Jurgen Klopp’s side to the joint heaviest defeat by an already-crowned Premier League champions.
Since Arsenal were beaten 4-0 by Liverpool in 1998 when they were already-crowned Premier League champions, no other club have suffered such fate until today.
After giving Liverpool the guard of honour, Manchester City scored three goals in the first half and added one more in the second half to completely destroy the Premier League champions.
City by far were the better side and goals from Kevin De Bruyne, Raheem Sterling, Phil Foden and an own goal from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain settled the tie on Thursday.
