VIDEO: Kehinde Oyewusi on target as Žalgiris beat Malmo to guarantee Lithuania’s first European Club Competition participation

Set to face Victor Boniface's Bodø/Glimt in 3rd round

Kehinde Mathias Oyewusi helped his Lithuanian club, Žalgiris Vilnius to set a historic record on Wednesday after their shocking 2-0 win in Malmo in the second leg of UEFA Champions League 2nd round qualifying game.

The Flying Sports Academy graduate was on the ground to help Žalgiris Vilnius overpower the experienced Swedish champions, Malmo at the Eleda Stadion.

After their 1-0 win in the first leg clash in Lithuania, Kehinde Oyewusi and his Žalgiris Vilnius teammates knew they have all to play for in Sweden and they delivered.

Kehinde Oyewusi opened the scoring for the visitors in the 34th minute of the game – the Nigerian found a space in the box before curling home with his right foot.

A win for Žalgiris Vilnius against Bodø/Glimt will be a tough ask – in any case, should the Lithuanian side get beaten they are certain of playing in the Europa Conference League group stages.

Žalgiris will become the first ever Lithuanian club to play in a UEFA club competition group stage, with a place in the Conference League groups guaranteed as a very minimum.

Kehinde Oyewusi who scored the extra-time winning goal in the qualifying first leg against FC Ballkani for an aggregate 2-1 win – also scored a goal in the second round qualifying game against Malmo.
