Vinicius makes history as Madrid beat Al Hilal to claim 5th CWC title

Ighalo only had a cameo

Vinicius Junior put his name in the history books as Real Madrid beat Al Hilal 5-3 to win the Club World Cup for the fifth time on Saturday.

The Brazillian who scored one of the goals as Real Madrid beat Al Ahly 4-1 in the semifinal clash, scored two more goals in the final at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium.

Federico Valverde also scored two goals, and returning Karim Benzema added one to make it five for Real Madrid.

With Odion Ighalo on the bench, Moussa Marega, and Luciano Vietto scored the goals for Al Hilal with the Argentine scoring a brace.

Vinicius Junior drew the first blood when he scored from a Karim Benzema pass in the 13th minute of the game.

Federico Valverde increased Real Madrid’s lead with a strike in the 18th minute of the game after Al Muaiouf spilled a cross from Luka Modric.

Former Porto striker Moussa Marega reduced the deficit for Al Hilal when he dashed through to fire past Andriy Lunin in the 26th minute.

But Karim Benzema in the 54th minute restored Real Madrid’s two-goal cushion from a pass from Vinicius Junior.

Valverde completed his brace with his 58th-minute strike following a pass from Dani Carvajal.

In the 63rd minute, Luciano Vietto capitalized on Antonio Rudiger’s lack of concentration to score Al Hilal’s second goal.

Vinicius Junior then scored his second to restore Real Madrid’s three-goal cushion.

The 22-year-old forward put his name in the history books by becoming the first Brazilian player to score a brace in the Club World Cup final.

There was still time for Luciano Vietto to complete his brace with his 79th-minute strike.

In the end, Real Madrid had done enough to claim their 5th Club World Cup title as Al Hilal lost another Club World Cup final.

The Saudi champions were beaten in the semis last season by Club World Cup eventual winners Chelsea.

Odion Ighanlo only played the last five minutes of the game.
