WAFU B CWCL Playoff: Delta Queens FC off to winning start vs USFA FC

Delta Queens got their WAFU Zone B playoffs of the CAF Women’s Champions League to a winning start with a 3-0 victory over USFA FC.

The game took place on Sunday August 20 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium Benin City, and was the opening game of the 2023 WAFU Zone B playoffs.

Alaba Olabiyi fired Delta Queens in front in the fifth minute, a lead the Nigerian Champions maintained until the halftime break.

There was no route back for Burkina Faso’s USFA FC as Chinaza Agoh (61′) and Mercy Omokwo (79′) added further strikes to seal a 3-0 win for Delta Queens FC.

Delta Queens FC go top of group A and will reach the semi-final with at least a point in their next game from the group of three.

The winner of the WAFU Zone B playoffs will qualify for the CAF Women’s Champions League scheduled to take place later in the year.

Delta Queens are hoping to follow in the footsteps of another Nigerian club, Bayelsa Queens FC who won the 2022 playoffs and represented the zone at the Champions League.
