WAFU Cup: Eagles Bow To Togo Yet Again

The Home Based Super Eagles on Sunday began their WAFU Cup 2019 campaign on a losing note, after falling to the Sparrow Hawks of Togo 2-1 in Thies, Senegal.

With revenge in mind for the Eagles after they were pummelled 4-1 by Togo when they met in the CHAN qualifiers last week, Moise Kossivi took advantage of a defensive slip-up to open the scoring at Stade Lat-Dior on the half-hour mark for Togo.

The Eagles however responded under three minutes, when Sikiru Alimi fired home the equaliser for Nigeria.

It won’t last long once more as Olisa Ndah turned the ball past goalkeeper Theophilus Afelokhai into the back of his own net.

Imama side couldn’t get back into the game as Mfon Udoh also saw red.
