Wahid Oshodi makes history with WTT Board appointment
Wahid Oshodi has made history after being appointed to the board of World Table Tennis, becoming the first African to serve as a full director on the body.
The appointment, confirmed during a meeting of the International Table Tennis Federation in Singapore, marks a major milestone for African representation in global sports governance.
Oshodi, who also serves as President of the African Table Tennis Federation, joins the board at a time when WTT is focused on strengthening its commercial structure and long-term sustainability.
Speaking after the announcement, he emphasized the importance of leadership and structure in the sport:
“Strong governance is what gives an organisation the structure to grow sustainably. I look forward to contributing to that work as the Board focuses on putting solid foundations in place for WTT’s long-term development.”
