Walter Imoedemhe: Why games involving Niger v Yobe, Stallions v Delta will be played simultaneously

The 2018 National Hockey Super League has taken a new twist after results in day 6 forced the technical director, Dr. Walter Imoedemhe. FIH Technical Official and AfHF Tournament Director to tweak the last day fixtures.

The games between Niger Flickers and Yobe Desert Rollers, Stallions and Delta Force will now be played at the same time to avoid any unforseen circumstances.

Following Niger Flickers 2-1 victory against Police Machine and Stallions hard-fought 3-1 win against Nasarawa Flickers on Thursday, either of the team’s could finish second behind Kada Stars who sit top of the log confortably with 16 points from 6 games.

“I have decided that the games between Niger Flickers v Yobe Desert Rollers, Stallions v Delta Force, will be played at the same time,” said Walter Imoedemhe.

“The two teams with 13 and 12 are the closest to Kada Stars who have 16 points so we must ensure they play on a level playing ground.

“I am trying to avoid complaints or arguments from any of the team managers involved in the battle for the second position and after careful consideration I am convinced this is the solution.

“I wish all the teams all the best and may the best team qualify at the end of the day.”

While the other games in both women and men categories will take place as scheduled, the match involving Niger Flickers, Stallions and their opponents will be played simultaneously by 4 pm.

Niger Flickers will battle Yobe Desert Rollers at pitch 1 while the clash involving Stallions and Delta Force will be staged on pitch 2.
