Warriors management finaly gives updates on Kevin Durant’s left knee injury

Golden State Warriors provided an update on Kevin Durant’s health on Wednesday, essentially saying he’s fine and will be re-evaluated again in seven to 10 days.

Earlier this month, reports said Durant was progressing nicely from his left knee injury and could make a return in the regular season. The first part is accurate, but if he’s held out at least another week then that puts a potential return at the end of the Warriors’ regular-season schedule.

At this point, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him miss the rest of the team’s games and make his return in the postseason. There’s no need for Golden State to rush him back into the line-up, espeically with how the team has played without him.

The Warriors are 11-4 without Durant this season, and hold a 2.5-game lead on the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference entering Wednesday’s games. The success has heightened lately as they’re riding an eight-game winning streak.

When Durant does eventually make his return, the Warriors plan on slowly bringing him back into the lineup.

“I imagine we’ll ease him back by playing him shorter minutes to start so he can build up his rhythm and his conditioning, but that obviously has a domino effect on the entire rotation,” coach Steve Kerr said earlier this week.

“When we get to that point, we’ll figure it out. It’s not something I’m giving a lot of thought to right now because he’s still at least a couple weeks away.”

While Durant isn’t ready to play right now, the Warriors’ injury update should encourage fans. He’s progressing nicely, and the team feels comfortable with his future. They may not need him now, but they certainly will once things heat up in the postseason.
