Warriors too good for Trail Blazers, Rubio silences Thunder

Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson starred as the Golden State Warriors defeated the Portland Trail Blazers 128-112 in the NBA on Friday.

Curry posted 34 points and Thompson scored 37 to help extend Golden State’s regular-season winning streak at home to 47 games.

The ‘Splash Brothers’ also combined for 15 three-pointers as the defending champions saw off their Western Conference rivals.

Draymond Green added 17 points and 13 rebounds.

The Trail Blazers were led by C.J. McCollum’s 18 points and Meyers Leonard’s double-double of 10 points and 13 rebounds.

Ricky Rubio’s late three lifted the Minnesota Timberwolves to a surprise 99-96 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Rubio, who finished with 13 points and 12 assists, was successful from beyond the arc with 0.2 seconds remaining to snap a run of back-to-back defeats for the Timberwolves.

“I’ve been working a lot, hard work pays off,” said Rubio. “It feels good to see the results.”

Kevin Durant (28 points) and Russell Westbrook (26 points) top-scored for the Thunder, who had their 10-game winning streak against the Timberwolves ended.

The Boston Celtics and their winning streak at home came to an end after they lost 102-98 to the Houston Rockets.

Boston had won 14 consecutive games at TD Garden until James Harden came to town and poured in 32 points.

Also on Friday, the Philadelphia 76ers claimed a rare win via a 95-89 victory over the Brooklyn Nets and the Miami Heat beat the Chicago Bulls 118-96.

The Charlotte Hornets made it six successive wins after downing the Detroit Pistons 118-103, the Memphis Grizzlies outlasted the New Orleans Pelicans 121-114 in overtime, the Washington Wizards lost 114-93 to the Utah Jazz, the Los Angeles Clippers were 101-94 winners over the New York Knicks, while the Orlando Magic edged the Sacramento Kings 107-100.
