Watch: Ademola Lookman Flaunts CAF Player of the Year Award on Lagos Streets Amid Cheers

A heartwarming video has surfaced showing Nigerian football star Ademola Lookman proudly displaying his CAF African Player of the Year award on the bustling streets of Lagos, drawing loud cheers and applause from adoring fans.

The clip, which made the rounds on Wednesday, captures the 27-year-old forward lifting the prestigious trophy high as passersby celebrated the moment, chanting his name and waving in admiration. Lookman, beaming with pride, appeared deeply moved by the love he received from the crowd.

This public appearance comes just two days after Lookman returned to Nigeria to a hero’s welcome. On Monday, 26 May 2025, he touched down at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, where he was greeted with drums, songs, and chants from fans dressed in Nigeria and Atalanta jerseys. A video shared on X by Photo journalist Justina Aniefok captured the emotional airport reception.

It marked Lookman’s first visit home with the CAF Player of the Year trophy since he was crowned in December 2024 — a proud first in his career.

The award crowns a spectacular 2023/24 season for the Atalanta forward. He played a central role in leading the Italian club to their first-ever UEFA Europa League title and was instrumental in Nigeria’s journey to the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. Lookman capped the season with a personal best of 20 goals across all competitions.

The streets of Lagos, filled with joy and pride, have now witnessed their football son return not just as a star — but as Africa’s best.
