Flying Eagles of Nigeria skipper Daniel Bameyi has declared the team is not afraid of anybody ahead of group stage matches vs Italy and Brazil at the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

Speaking to NFF TV, Bameyi admitted the Italians will not be easy opponents but is banking on the fearless Nigerian spirit to see the team through.

The Flying Eagles Skipper said “The next opponent beat Brazil and we were opportune to watch the first half. Any team that can beat Brazil will not be an easy team but we are Nigerians and not scared of anybody, and we know every team is beatable no matter how you play.

“If today (vs Dominican Republic) we can win, then on Wednesday we can also win too.”

In the first game, Nigeria had to fight from a goal down to beat Dominican Republic 2-1. The Flying Eagles should have won more goals, but Bameyi was satisfied with the outcome because their ultimate target of sealing maximum points was achieved.

“It was a good game, the three points was ours despite the fact we missed a lot of chances, you could see it from the statistics.” he continued

“Still it is not a bad game, the three points is what we went for and we had it today.”

A win vs Italy at the Estadio Malvinas Argentinas on Wednesday May 24 will send Nigeria through to the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup Round of 16 stage with a game vs Brazil to spare in Argentina.
