‘We are not title contenders but don’t underestimate us’ – Enugu Rangers coach Fidelis Ilechukwu declares
Coach of Rangers International Football Club, Fidelis Ilechukwu, has made a bold statement regarding his team’s position in the league.
Despite recent successes, Ilechukwu insists that Rangers are not league contenders – but warns rivals not to write them off just yet.
In a recent match against Remo Stars, Rangers secured a crucial away victory thanks to a stunning free-kick by substitute Agu Kenechukwu. The goal, scored in the 56th minute, proved decisive as the ‘Flying Antelopes’ triumphed over their opponents.
Speaking after the game, Ilechukwu revealed his long-term vision for the team. “We’re focused on building a solid squad capable of challenging for trophies in the future,” he stated. Despite their current standing, Ilechukwu remains optimistic about Rangers’ prospects.
“The league is still wide open,” he continued. “We’ll continue to fight until the end of the season. Our recent victory is just the beginning – we won’t rest until we’ve achieved our goals.”
Addressing concerns about pressure, Ilechukwu emphasized the importance of maintaining a determined mindset. “We’re not guaranteed to win the league,” he admitted. “But don’t underestimate us. We’re determined to build a team that can compete at the highest level.”
With their latest win, Rangers have climbed to third place in the league standings, with 37 points from 22 matches. As they prepare to face Niger Tornadoes at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna, in their next fixture, the ‘Flying Antelopes’ are poised to continue their quest for success.
