Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro has warned his players that Angola will not be an easy opponent and so they must be serious on Friday, Febuary 2, 2024.

Three-time champions of Africa, Nigeria defeated the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon 2-0 in a tensed AFCON round of 16 game at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium on Saturday with Ademola Lookman scoring both goals for Peseiro’s men to reach the last-8.

Lookman opened scoring for the Super Eagles nine minutes before the break after he has set-up by the hardworking Victor Osimhen.

The 26-year-old then netted the second on the stroke of 90 minutes to send Nigeria into the quater-final where they face Angola.

The Palancas Negras thrashed Namibia 3-0 to earn a place in the last eight.

“We will now focus on our next match against Angola, which is having an excellent tournament,”Jose Peseiro told the media at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium.

“We must take this opponent seriously, so we will continue to sleep early and eat pasta (laughs). Jokes aside, all the teams at this stage are capable of winning the tournament.”
