WELCOME TO UYO, SUPER EAGLES!

On behalf of the Akwa Ibom State Football Normalization Committee and the entire Football Stakeholders in the state, I welcome our darling team, the Super Eagles of Nigeria to Akwa Ibom State, The Land of Promise, for the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations qualification series final day encounter against Sao Tome and Principe at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo this weekend.

Despite a guaranteed place in the finals after garnering 12 points from the last five matches, the football fans in the state are in high spirit as usual to receive the Eagles back to the Nest of Champions that recorded seven wins for the team in their previous eight visits to the city.

While congratulating the team for already booking a place in the 2024 AFCON in Cote D’Ivoire with a game to spare, we are confident that the encounter against The Falcons of Sao Tome will be a worthy icing on the cake for the three-time African Champions.

Let me also thank the Nigeria Football Federation -NFF, led by the President, Ibrahim Gusau for the massive support and investment into the national teams and for selecting Uyo to host the last AFCON qualifier and the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Rest assured that as a Football Association, we have put everything in place to ensure the team has a wonderful time camping, training and playing in the beautiful city of Uyo.

Once again, congratulations Super Eagles and welcome to the Land of Promise!

Otuekong Bonny Nyong

Chairman
