Wellington Jighere in the mix after ending day two with a 7-2 record at the 2018 Mattel World Scrabble Championship

Wellington Jighere improved greatly on day two at the on going Mattel World Scrabble Championship and Scrabble’s 70th anniversary in Torquay, England.

After a below par display from the 2015 champion on day one where he lost 4 games and won 4, Wellington Jighere ended day two with a 7-2.

He won 7 games and dropped just 2 to remain in the mix.

Wellington Jighere won his first game on day two against Tsang_Wai Jason with a score of 455-322. He lost his second game to Boyle Vincent by 421-439. He was too good for Nichol Ian in his 3rd game as he ran away with a score of 484-296.

He defeated Brousson Theresa 466-427 in his 4th game. He escaped an upset against Vicary Chris with a score of 397-377. In his 6th game of the day, he trashed Oliver Gary by 479-297 before losing to Gallen Paul by a score of 354-460 in his 7th game.

In his 8th game, he beat Smitheram Brett with a 469-356 scoreline. In his last game of day two, he beat Russel Gebbett Andrei 455-348 to end the day with a record of 7-2 and a spread of +871.

Wellington Jighere now has a record of 11-6 and spread of +871 from 17 games he has played so far at the event.

Actions continue tomorrow and Wellington Jighere will be hoping for the best possible results to remain in the mix.
