Calvin Bassey reached a Premier League milestone during Fulham’s 2-0 victory over Leicester City on Saturday. The Nigerian defender made his 50th Premier League appearance in the match, marking an important achievement in his career.
Bassey joined Fulham in the summer of 2023 after moving from Ajax Amsterdam. He made his Premier League debut for Fulham in August 2023 against Brentford. In Saturday’s match, Bassey came close to scoring in the first half when Harry Wilson set him up, but his shot just missed the target.
Despite a goalless first half, Fulham went on to take control in the second half. Emile Smith Rowe scored the opening goal, and Adama Traoré added a second goal to seal the win for Fulham.
Meanwhile, Fulham manager Marco Silva has provided more details on why Nigeria’s Alex Iwobi was substituted at half-time, as there was some speculation about an injury.
With the win, Fulham moved up to ninth place in the Premier League standings with 33 points, just five points behind the top four.
