What Victor Osimhen said after scoring two goals In Galatasaray’s victory over Rizespor
Victor Osimhen was full of praise for his teammates and the club’s fans after scoring twice to lead Galatasaray to a hard-fought 2-1 win over Rizespor on Monday night.
The Nigerian striker, returning after missing Galatasaray’s Europa League defeat to AZ Alkmaar, made a huge impact by netting both goals to secure three vital points for his side.
After the match, Osimhen highlighted the team’s determination and the support from the fans.
“It was a very important and difficult match,” Osimhen told Galatasaray.org. “We won, and I think we deserved it. I want to congratulate the whole team and also thank our fans. Their support gave us a lot of morale. We will continue our winning streak this way.”
One of the night’s standout moments came when Galatasaray’s captain, Fernando Muslera, wore Osimhen’s trademark face mask to celebrate the win. The Nigerian forward was delighted by the gesture.
“I had given my mask to celebrate with the fans, and when I came back, I saw that Muslera had already put it on,” Osimhen said. “Beyond being our captain, he is a great person and very important to the team. He played a key role in this victory.”
With this win, Galatasaray moved six points clear of José Mourinho’s Fenerbahce at the top of the Turkish Super Lig. Osimhen, who joined on loan from Napoli, has been in excellent form, scoring 14 goals and providing four assists in 18 league matches.
He will be back in action on Thursday when Galatasaray face AZ Alkmaar in the second leg of their Europa League playoff, hoping to overturn a 4-1 deficit.
