Who are the 21 Flamingos to represent Nigeria at the 2024 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup?

Coach Bankole Olowookere has announced his 21-player squad for Nigeria’s Flamingos ahead of the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in the Dominican Republic. The team includes Captain Taiwo Afolabi and top scorers Harmony Chidi and Peace Effiong.

Chidi was outstanding during the qualifiers, scoring 13 of the team’s record-breaking 25 goals as Nigeria breezed past Central African Republic, Burkina Faso, and Liberia.

Midfielder Taiwo Afolabi will lead the Flamingos engine room, supported by Faridat Abdulwahab, Shakirat Moshood, and Ayomide Rotimi. First-choice goalkeeper Christiana Uzoma will face competition from Sylvia Echefu and Elizabeth Boniface.

The defense will be marshaled by Taiwo Adegoke alongside six other defenders, while Harmony Chidi leads a strong attacking lineup, which includes Peace Effiong.

Nigeria is in Group A for the 16-nation tournament and will face the host Dominican Republic, Ecuador, and New Zealand.

The team will leave Nigeria on October 1st for a two-week training camp in Santo Domingo, the Dominican Republic’s capital.
