Why Alex Iwobi won’t say sorry for provocative gesture against Rennes’s Hamari Traore

Alex Iwobi will not be apologising to Hamari Traore for the provocative gesture he made towards the Malian in Arsenal’s 3-0 home win against Rennes during Thursday’s Europa League clash at Emirates Stadium.

The Super Eagles attacker was captured on camera covering his nose because after having a conversation with the defender during the intense final minutes.

Alex Iwobi’s reaction showed that he was mocking the Malian for having a smelly breath. The action has been tagged unprofessional by fans who have called for the Nigerian to issue an apology.

But Alex Iwobi has said he will not be tendering any apology as the Malian got what he deserved.

“The Guy was Fouling Me, cussing (sic) Me & My Mum, He was putting Middle Fingers up at Me, said Iwobi in a chat with a teammate who asked that he apologise to Malian.

“They won’t catch that or say anything about that. But they will quickly say something to me.

“I’m sorry bro, but I ain’t (going to apologise).”
