Why angry Olympics Eagles and officials are threatening to boycott last AFCON qualifying round

The Nigeria U23 team and their officials could boycott the last AFCON qualifiers against Sudan after the treatment the Nigeria Federation Football meted to them.

The Olympics Eagles overturned a 2-0 first leg defeat against Libya in their AFCON qualifier second round clash with a 4-0 second leg victory in Asaba to book their place in the third and final round.

Foreign based players such as Victor Osimhen, Samuel Chukwueze, Kelechi Nwakali, Taiwo Awoniyi and others played key roles as Nigeria overcame Libya to book their final place.

But these players and some of the officials are angry at the treatment they received from NFF hence, the plan to boycott the third and final round of qualifiers against Sudan.

“Both players and officials are very furious with the raw deal they suffered at the hands of the NFF,” as quoted by ScoreNigeria.

“They did not get a dime for all the trouble they went through to stay in contention for a place at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

“Some of the players have already said they should count them out of the match against Sudan as a result.”

Nigeria U23 must beat Sudan to book their place in the AFCON U-23 scheduled for November 8th to 22nd in Egypt.
