Why Rohr will not beg Ezeh, Saka and others to play for Nigeria

Gernot Rohr is not going to force or beg Arsenal’s wonderkid Bukayo Saka, Queens Park Rangers star Eberechi Ezeh and other UK-born Nigerians to play for the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

The technical adviser who recently renewed his contract revealed that players born in Europe but eligible to play for Nigeria should let him and the Federation know of their interest to represent their nation of origin.

Gernot Rohr encouraged players who had played for other countries at different youth stages to emulate the likes of Everton star, Alex Iwobi, Torino utility Ola Aina and Rangers star Joe Aribo who informed Nigeria of their interest to play for the country.

He stressed that he would not beg any player to play for Nigeria regardless of how inform he is anywhere in the World because he is only interested in committed players.

“We have good players in several positions but we are still open to having more,’ said Rohr.

‘For players who have already represented another country it’s not easy to have them cleared to play for Nigeria.

‘However, we don’t beg any player. If they want to play they should call me to indicate their interest like Alex Iwobi, Ola Aina and Joe Aribo.

‘It’s not the wise thing to beg them to play for Nigeria, we want players who are committed to making Nigerians happy.”
