Why Uche and Amas Are Missing from Super Eagles Camp
Two players, Chrisantus Uche and Amas Obasogie, are missing from the Super Eagles camp for the 2025 Unity Cup tournament, despite being named in coach Eric Chelle’s squad.
Uche, who plays for Getafe in Spain, has stayed away from camp due to personal reasons. Sources close to the team say the 22-year-old midfielder is dealing with private matters. However, it is believed he may still join the squad before Nigeria’s friendly match against Russia on Friday, 6th June, in Moscow.
Uche has been one of Getafe’s top performers this season, scoring four goals and providing six assists in 33 La Liga matches. His strong form has attracted interest from bigger clubs like Atlético Madrid and Brentford.
On the other hand, goalkeeper Amas Obasogie, who plays for Singida Black Stars in Tanzania, has been ruled out due to visa problems. This means he cannot travel for the Unity Cup games at the moment.
His absence leaves only two goalkeepers in camp — Maduka Okoye and Stanley Nwabali for the mini tournament.
While there is still hope that Uche will return in time for the match in Russia, Obasogie’s situation is more uncertain due to the travel challenges he is facing.
