Wilfred Ndidi suffers Ankle Injury ahead of Europa League Qualifier

Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi has suffered an ankle ligament injury ahead of Beşiktaş’s UEFA Europa League second qualifying round clash against Danish side Midtjylland.

The Turkish club confirmed the injury in a statement after the Nigerian midfielder underwent an MRI scan at Acıbadem Altunizade Hospital.

Beşiktaş said the scan revealed ligament damage in Ndidi’s ankle, with treatment already underway.

“Following an ankle injury, our player Wilfred Ndidi underwent an MRI at Acıbadem Altunizade Hospital, which revealed a ligament injury in his ankle. Treatment for the player has been started by our medical team.”

The club did not disclose how long the 29-year-old is expected to be sidelined, leaving his availability for Thursday’s Europa League qualifier in doubt.

Ndidi joined Beşiktaş last summer after leaving Leicester City and quickly became a key figure in midfield with his experience, defensive presence and leadership.

The Nigerian player will now focus on his recovery as he looks to return to action as soon as possible.
