Will Maduka Okoye Leave Udinese This Summer? Nigerian Goalie takes a Stand

Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has said that his heart is with Udinese and he is not thinking about leaving the club this summer, despite reports linking him to AC Milan and Bournemouth.

Okoye has enjoyed a strong return to form after a difficult time at Watford two years ago. Since joining Udinese, the 25-year-old has become a key part of the team.

This season, he has played 24 matches for the Serie A side, conceding 37 goals and keeping four clean sheets. He has a save rate of 64% and averages 2.7 saves per game.

His recent performances have attracted interest from bigger clubs, with AC Milan and Premier League side Bournemouth reportedly keeping an eye on him. A move could happen in the summer, but Okoye seems calm about the situation.

When asked about a possible transfer during a fan meet-and-greet event, Okoye responded: “I am one of you, I am a black and white player, and I am happy to be here. It’s hard to think about the future because I’m focused on Udinese. The club and the fans have entered my heart.”

While a move to AC Milan or the Premier League would be a big step up, Okoye may still need to improve certain parts of his game to avoid repeating the struggles he faced at Watford.

He has already shown his quality during his time at Sparta Rotterdam. If Okoye gets a chance to be first-choice goalkeeper at a top club, and he is ready, he should take the opportunity with both hands.
