A target for Manchester United
It has been said that Osimhen is being eyed as a potential target for Manchester United ahead of this summer’s transfer window with whispers coming in fast and strong from both sides. This comes as the striker is still riding on the high of an impressive season that has seen him score 11 goals and four assists during a total of 22 games with this outcome aligning perfectly with the fact that Manchester United are currently on the market for a brand-new striker with Edinson Cavani scheduled to depart as his contract comes to an end and Ralf Rengnick reportedly worried about Cristiano Ronaldo’s future at the club.
The Nigerian-born footballer joined Napoli from Lille in a €67.5 million deal in 2020 and with a seemingly unlimited budget, the Italian side will more than likely be looking to make a profit from the move if he was to leave this summer.
A second chance for Tottenham
It may be Manchester United that is currently leading the pack but after a failed bid for the striker in January, Tottenham is reportedly also lining up a £70 million bid for Osimhen ahead of this summer’s transfer window. It has been reported that the Partenopi rejected the bid earlier this year but with the London-based club still on the hunt for a striker, it may have just been a case of bad timing with this summer perhaps providing a better opportunity for both sides to finally make things work.
This also comes as Tottenham manager, Antonio Conte, is reportedly determined to sign a center-forward regardless of what the future holds for Harry Kane with cover needed for both Kane and Son Heung-min if they are to stay. With Tottenham’s bid now public, however, will other European clubs step up in an attempt to pit them to the post at the last second?
A successful career
It may still be early days for Osimhen’s time as a professional football player but with a successful career already under his belt and some of the world’s top teams already desperate to add him to their squad, his future is bright. It may have been hampered by a string of injuries along the way but with all eyes well and truly set on this summer’s transfer window, only time will tell how, and perhaps most importantly, where the striker’s future will lie.
With this summer’s upcoming transfer window fast approaching, all eyes are on Victor Osimhen as a number of European clubs, although namely Manchester United and Tottenham, are already vying to add the striker to their current line-up even if it means replacing existing players.
