William Troost-Ekong stars as PAOK win in pre-season

Super Eagles vice-captain William Troost-Ekong and his Greek side, PAOK, have started preparations for the upcoming season with a victorious return to the pitch for the Nigerian defender.

Troost-Ekong had been sidelined due to an injury sustained during the AFCON 2023 tournament but has now made a comeback, missing several Super Eagles matches under former coach Finidi George.

After undergoing surgery following the AFCON final, where he captained Nigeria and was named the tournament’s most valuable player, Troost-Ekong has now returned to action. He featured in PAOK’s recent preseason friendly against AEK Larnaca, which ended in a 2-1 victory for PAOK, with first-half goals from Schwab and Murg. Troost-Ekong was part of the starting lineup and played a significant role in the match.

Expressing his excitement at being back on the field, Troost-Ekong took to social media, stating, “FIRST OFFICIAL MINUTES IN THE TANK. OYA NOW.” This message highlights his joy and readiness to fully participate in the upcoming season.

Super Eagles fans and supporters are delighted to see their beloved defender back in action. Troost-Ekong’s return is a positive sign for both PAOK and the Nigerian national team, as they anticipate his continued dominance on the field.

As Troost-Ekong overcomes the challenges posed by his injury and reclaims his place in the starting lineup, Super Eagles followers will be closely monitoring his progress. They eagerly await his next appearance for Nigeria, hoping he will continue to lead and inspire the team with his performances.

Troost-Ekong’s return to form is crucial for both his club and country, and his resilience and leadership qualities will be vital assets in the forthcoming season.
