Women’s round up: Margaret Aben’s brace gets Delta their first win, Obeka Comfort’s strike wins it for Plateau

Margaret Aben scored two goals as Delta women team trashed Ondo State 3-0 to claim their first win of the 2018 National Sports Festival while Plateau pipped Yobe.

After playing a goalless draw in their first game against Yobe and a shocking loss in their second game against Plateau State, Delta recorded their first win of the campaign.

Delta’s win was a comfortable one against Ondo team who looked the opposite of the team that lost 2-0 to Kaduna women in their first game.

Margaret Aben opened the scoring in the 11th minute of the game to give Delta the lead. Oghenevo Roselyn capitalised on the defensive mistake to increase Delta’s tally to 2.

Margaret Aben then completed her brace in the 35th minute to increase Delta’s tally to three.

It was an improved display from Omogiate Aghale and her team who were far below their standard in their first-two games. She was involved in everything her team did today, she assisted two of the goals.

While Titi Ativie who impressed in Ondo’s 2-0 loss to Kaduna in their first game was totally off in the game.

In the second game both Plateau and Yobe fought a good fight but, it was the girls from the home of peace and tourism who scored the only goal.

Obeka Comfort scored the only goal in the 49th minute to settle the tough tie.
