WrestleMania 40 sets new records as the highest-grossing event in WWE history

WrestleMania 40 has cemented its place in history as the most successful and highest-grossing event ever hosted by the WWE, according to TKO Group.

Taking place over two epic nights at the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, WrestleMania 40 drew an astonishing attendance of over 145,000 fans, surpassing the previous record set by WrestleMania 39 by an impressive 78%.

The event showcased the unmatched passion of WWE fans from around the world, with enthusiasts flocking to witness the spectacle.

One of the highlights of WrestleMania 40 was the showdown between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns, where Rhodes emerged victorious to claim the WWE Universal Championship, ending Reigns’ historic 1,316-day title reign and marking the beginning of a new era under Paul “Triple H” Lavesque.

WrestleMania 40 not only shattered attendance records but also set new standards in viewership. The event witnessed a remarkable 41% increase in viewership compared to the previous year, demonstrating its widespread appeal and growing fan base.

Moreover, WrestleMania 40 became the highest-grossing fan event in WWE history, generating a total gate of approximately $38.4 million. This impressive figure resulted in nearly a $20 million gate for each night of the event, surpassing the previous year’s gate by 78%.

In addition to its financial success, WrestleMania 40 dominated social media platforms, with over 660 million views consumed globally. WWE’s YouTube channel experienced its most-viewed day ever on WrestleMania XL Sunday, amassing over 67 million views within 24 hours.

The historic weekend for WWE extended beyond WrestleMania, as Raw, SmackDown, and NXT events held over the weekend also shattered attendance and gate records.

As WrestleMania 40 enters the annals of WWE history, it stands as a testament to the enduring popularity and cultural significance of professional wrestling, solidifying its place as the pinnacle event in sports entertainment.
